Anouncing a new SPA journal
Social Policy and Society
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Call for Papers
--------------------
The main aim for the journal, which will compliment the Journal of Social Policy,
is to provide an outlet for contemporary and stimulating refereed
original articles, authoritatively written and aimed at the
specialist and non specialist alike. The focus will be strongly
international and not simply seek to reflect UK policy.
It will endeavour to enlarge the boundaries of social policy, to bring discussion
of social policy issues to a wider audience, and provide a teaching
and research resource.
The journal will have a themed section of refereed articles edited by a
Guest Editor. For the first Guest Editor will be Prof. Peter
Taylor-Gooby, University of Kent, UK. There will also be a section
containing refereed articles unrelated to the theme of each issue.
The word limit for all articles will be around 4000 words.
Importantly, there will be commentaries and debates on current
issues emphasising current policy developments and reports of current
research. It is hope that there will also be book reviews and review
articles sections linked to the theme of each issue.
The theme of the first issue will be Social Democracy and Welfare.
The topics covered will include: recent international developments,
the conceptual issues raised by new definitions of social democracy,
the issues raised by a social democratic commitment to tolerance and
the claims of minorities and social movements, current policy issues
and the constraints on social democratic welfare policies resulting
from globalisation and from associated social and economic
developments.
Further details are posted on the Social Policy Association website
