Confession.....I did watch the teenager clean the toilet...but only because I
was interested in Operation Raleigh as I was one of the first group of
disabled people to take part (Belize 1985). Anyway, I digress.
The BBC Sports Personality of the Year and treatment of Tanni was brought up
in Prime Ministers Questions this week and there was a fairly stock answer
form John Prescott (Tony Blair's Deputy) about the Disability Discrimination
Act and the Disability Rights Commission. Which leads me to my question...
Is / was Tanni a member of the Disability Rights Commission or just a part of
the original Working Party looking at the DDA. Is she known to be an activist
or a complyist (if there is such a word) ?
It is essential, as Pam says, that complaints are made if only so that when
we 'on the ground' complain, for example, about non-disabled people parking
in reserved spaces they have some idea that it's not a totally isolated
incident that never happened before and is never likely to happen again.
Obviously other examples would apply for different disabilities.
