Hi all,
I was gobsmacked by the whole thing, especially since I'm researching
disabled sports and there's some evidence that the BBC are taking this
seriously (e.g. the more or less equal treatment given to elite runners and
elite wheelchair athletes in the London Marathon); obviously this was just
window-dressing. Ref the absence of the Paralympic medallists from the
stage: the team of the year was "The British Olympic and Paralympic teams",
therefore there's no excuse for not calling Paralympic medallists
individually (and even, heaven forbid, giving them access to the stage).
I've complained to the BBC via their website on
www.bbc.co.uk/info/contact/com_email.shtml
maybe others would like to do the same?
cheers, Lynne

I agree that the way the BBC presented the Olympic and
Paraolympic team was uneven in the alotted time given to
each and in presentation.
However, when they all stood on that raised platform, the
compare's of the programme had announced that all 'Olympic'
athletes would be coming on and it must be remembered that,
alas Paraolympics is not endorsed by the 'olympics'. That
is something that must be changed. But the BBC does not
have the power to do that. What they should have done,
perhaps is re-organized the show so all 'medallists' would
be put together.
