(the following is from Chris Salter - it works)
First go to
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/gp-uk.html
Select "Join or leave the JISCmail list (or change settings)".
At this point I would recommend you set up a listserv password rather
than have to confirm every change by email. To do this first pretend you
do have a list password i.e. select the link in the text:
"Alternatively, you can login with your LISTSERV password (if you have
one) and update your subscription interactively, without e-mail
confirmation."
In the resulting "Login required" document select the link in the text:
"If this is the first time you see this dialog, or if you have forgotten
your password, you will need to get a new LISTSERV password first."
You will be taken to the "Registering your LISTSERV password" document.
In the email address field enter the email address under which you are
subscribed to GP-UK. Fill in the password fields and submit the form.
You will receive a confirmation email (took about an hour when I did it)
which offers various ways of confirming, the easiest being the URL with
response code. One you have completed the confirmation process you can
enter your email address and password in the aforementioned "Login
required" form [on that form you have the option of saving your password
as a cookie but I personally don't recommend using cookies for that
purpose]. If you are subscribed to other JISC lists under the same email
address you can use the same password for changing those profiles. If
any of those lists have archive access restricted to subscribers, again
you can use this password.

Can be shortened - but I think only by the listowner - the
capitalisation of the address may cause problems as well I think - I
think that this can be altered
HTH
back off to some luxury now, me being GP and all... ;-)
