On the I mailed the following to the mailbase, only to receive information
on the change in organization. I think I have complied with all
requirements, but it does not seem to have been transmitted ; at least, I
have not received it, as was the case with the old formula.
"I have almost finished polishing my tranlation of Mary Postgate, a task
that gives
one plenty of opportunities to examine the pros and cons in interpreting the
text.
Inspite of my initially not believing it, I may have found evidence that it
was indeed a bomb that wounded little Edna and destroyed the cart-lodge.
"Accident ! said Nurse Eden promptly and dashed through the empty bar,
followed by Mary. They found Mrs Gerritt, the publican's wife, who could
only gasp and point to the yard , where a little cart-lodge was sliding
sideways amid a clatter of tiles. Nurse Eden snatched up a sheet drying
before the fire, ran out, lifted something from the ground...".
From the time they heard the "gun" , to that when they reached the back of
the pub, little Edna's body had been "ripped and shredded". Nevertheless,
the cart-lodge was still "sliding sideways" and Edna's body already lay on
the ground, from where Nurse Eden lifts it, with difficulty. It is obvious
that she has not
been crushed under the rubble, 1) because this has not yet fully collapsed,
2)
because if she had, she would be covered by it and Nurse Eden could not lift
her without first clearing the tiles etc, as she is described to do. The
girl was not IN the shed, as the doctor said.
This lends credibility to the other agent : a bomb.
