Any ideas from the list.
I hear from colleagues in the ambulance service of another young patient (30
years) dying following an apparent exacerbation of asthma with respiratory
then cardiac arrest. The crew was unable to ventilate (inspire of
intubations) because of hyperinflation due consolidation of the main
airways. This was not a case of bi-lateral tension pneumothorax.
Having personally had a number of patients with similar deaths over the
years are there any new ideas on how we can achieve some air flow!
