ISUD International Society for Universal Dialogue
JACOBSEN PRIZES 2001
The ISUD Fourth World Conference will be held from July 12-16,
2001 at
Jagiellonian University, Cracow, Poland. To prepare for that event, we
invite submissions.
Papers accepted for the Fourth World Conference that best respond
to a
challenge from Mr. Jens A. B. Jacobsen will be awarded prizes of
$2,000 each. Additional prizes of $500 each will be awarded to
younger
scholars—graduate students writing a dissertation or junior faculty in
the pre-tenure period. Younger scholars should include a short CV.
Jens A. B. Jacobsen joined our dialogue in 1990. In spite of his death
in August of 1996, his legacy continues to support our philosophical
quest. Mr. Jacobsen was a businessman who challenged us to reflect
on
the meaning of life. He was especially interested in looking beyond
the individual ego and seeking universal meaning that can be shared by
all. He urged us to consider nature as an idea that lures us beyond
the relativism of our limited perspective as isolated individuals.
The theme for our Fourth World Conference is
Mythos and Logos: How to Regain the Love of Wisdom.
Deadline for submission of papers: March 15, 2001.
