JISC Circular 8/00
Developing the Archives Hub: Call for Collection Level Content
This Circular, dated 30th October 2000, has been sent to Vice
Chancellors in HE institutions, copied to Heads of Information
Services and Archivists. It invites HE institutions or consortia to
submit full proposals to develop and contribute collection level
content to the Archives Hub service.
The Archives Hub aims to allow users, ranging from the novice to
the experienced researcher, networked access to quality records of
all archival collections in the UK HE sector. Initially, records will
be collection level, however the longer term vision is to include
access to multi-level descriptions, full text and digitised items
where appropriate. The Service is available to higher and further
education institutions, but only HE archival collections are sought
for inclusion in the Hub at this stage.
The date for receipt of proposals is Wednesday 13th December
2000. It is envisaged that all bidders will be informed of their
success or otherwise by Friday 26th January 2001. Institutions
that do not hold collections suitable for the inclusion in the
Archives Hub are asked to supply an email statement by 13th
December to the address: [log in to unmask]
