Dear all,
I'm wondering if anyone knows about any on-line or distance learning
courses on Financial Engineering or Mathematical Finance. Preferably on
a masters level. I am now in Australia working on finishing my PhD in
Mechanical Engineering (turbulent flows). I'm not sure where in the
world I'm heading next, or what I'll be doing to provide food, but my
ultimate goal is to become a Quant. Currently, I'm reading standard
texts like Hull, Wilmott etc, on my spare time I do some MATLAB
programming on the stuff I learn from the texts. It will be good if I
could do a formal course though. King's College's MSc on Mathematical
Finance is just what I need. BUT, like many others, I could not afford
it unless I'm working in London therefore could do the MSc part-time.
If there are no on-line courses around, perhaps the academics should
plan to have one. I know there's a distance learning MSc on Financial
Management, and MSc on Financial Development from Uni. of London. I'm
sure there are plenty of us around who are interested. Not all of us
are in London, or USA, or capable of doing it full-time.
Cheers,
