----MAILBASE "BECOMES" JISCMAIL on 27th NOVEMBER 2000----
This message is to inform you of changes to the Mailbase service which
will affect this list. From 27th November, the operation of mailbase
lists will be taken over by JISCmail.
Fortunately, this will have minimal effect on list operation: you don't
have to re-register with JISCmail or anything.
----SO WHAT WILL CHANGE?----
The only difference is that you should address any mail for this list to:
[log in to unmask]
instead of @mailbase.ac.uk
The same goes for any commands affecting your membership: where you used
to send them to [log in to unmask], you should (after 27th November)
send them to [log in to unmask]
----YES, BUT WHAT SORTS OF THINGS WILL I NEED TO DO?----
In the early stages, mail sent to mailbase will be forwarded
automatically; however (like when they change the phone numbers, a
popular sport here in the UK) you should try to get used to the new
address as soon as possible to avoid confusion.
For example, you might need to:
* update your address book to use jiscmail.ac.uk
* update any filters your email software uses for incoming list mail
* update your bookmarks for the jiscmail site
* update any web pages you run which currently point to the mailbase site
In all of the above cases, simply substituting jiscmail for mailbase
throughout should do the trick.
----QUERIES----

background and details of this change. The following links should help
