The Cornell University Department of Anthropology invites applications for a
tenurable position as assistant professor in socio-cultural anthropology.
Most importantly, we seek scholars (Ph.D. completed prior to July 1, 2001)
whose work combines conceptual innovation, analytical rigor, and substantial
ethnographic research, regardless of geographical or topical specialization.
Secondarily, we seek candidates whose interests complement or supplement
those of the members of our department in interesting ways. For example, we
are interested in scholars whose work addresses environmental issues, issues
concerning indigenous peoples' rights or human rights, or other forms of
socially engaged research; but this list is not meant to be exclusive.
Applications should include a letter summarizing research record, scholarly
interests, teaching qualifications; a curriculum vitae; and the names and
addresses (including telephone and e-mail) of three referees. Materials
should be sent to: Chair, Search Committee, Department of Anthropology,
Cornell University, 265 McGraw Hall, Ithaca, NY 14853. Cornell University is
an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer. Closing date: December
15, 2000.
