I am not particularly right wing. (Not that it matters a whit to the patient or anyone here) If anything I am a centre-left
pragmatist too. However, properly private systems simply work better as there is a direct link between how hard you work
and how much you get. I have covered this ground before too, so I shall not waste everyone's time by reiteration. I agree,
the fake competition of the '80s and '90s was silly. It was also extremely expensive, by the way, but that has been
conveniently forgotten.
Who complains an American hospital has too many administrators or that there is a 4 hour delay to be seen in a French
or Australian hospital? All these are properly funded at the point of care but none through a collectivised system. Even
the 'Blue Cross' uninsured patients are treated better in the States as nobody remembers the cheap and nasty treatments
we have to use. A simple clinical example; in how many other First World healthcare systems is treatment of a
multifragmentary radial styloid fracture treated universally by manipulation under local anaesthesia with external fixation
by plaster only?
Best wishes,
