The Library Company of Philadelphia's Program in Early American Economy
and Society (PEAES) is pleased to announce that the program schedule for
its April 2001 inaugural conference, "The Past and Future of Early American
Economic History," is now available on the website,
www.librarycompany.org. The conference will be held in Philadelphia 20-21
April 2001, and will bring together senior and junior scholars who will
discuss the current state of scholarship on the early American
economy. Conference papers will be available on the website starting about
1 March 2001, and all registrants are urged to read these papers in
advance. Conference activities include a walking tour of Philadelphia's
early economy and a subscription dinner. In addition, a number of small
stipends will be available for graduate students who will be traveling more
than 30 miles to attend the conference. For more information about the
