Hello everyone; John!
When I wrote to the mail base, calling for research on AD(H)D and that I was
specially interested in the value and limitations, in educating those
children, in regular schools, I didnīt got any private answers. The response
to my question was all on the mail base list. Also, I didnīt got direct
answer to my question, of the research I asked for, but I am thankful
though. As I said, Im now in known of web-sides I didnīt knew, which keeps
lots of information and points to related links. So, maybe I can and will
find what Im really looking for.
I have a son of 14, with ADHD. Our life has been "The never ending story",
struggling with the school system which seems to have no interested in doing
their jobs by laws; educating my son. He is well gifted, but has great
learning problems because of his ADHD. He is medicated with Ritalin and
Noritren. As a mother, having read about the medication side effects, both
recognized and not, read of parents "drugging" their kinds, etc., I
definitely choose medicine for my boy. Although from time to time it can bee
hard admitting my child needs being medicated.
Being a mother of my ADHD son, I am also developmental therapist, working at
the Regional office for the affairs of handicapped in Reykjanes, Iceland. I
am taking course in University of Educations/Continuing education; statistic
and social research. And I am working on little project related to that, of
children having ADHD, and the value and limitations in educating those
children, in regular schools. I am just having problems finding references.
I am happy to here that your colleague and friend, are trying to bring some
new aspect into the ADHD discussion. Hopefully, we will bee allowed
following her job. Its very interesting.
In the weekend, I will give myself a time, reading the attachment you sent.
My best regards, Huldis.
