Harald,
I downloaded the latest version of TextQuest to test it but the program I
just downloaded from your web site is still the old, unfinished version that
was released in March. The TQ-DEMO file date is November 23, 2000, but the
TQ.EXE in it is 8 months old. Am I missing something?
BTW, self-extracting EXE files like TQ-DEMO.EXE are frustrating. Most
programs distributed as EXE files on the Web are installation programs.
When I tried to run what I thought was an installation program, all files
were extracted automatically in the wrong place. I had to find them and
delete them. Then, I moved the EXE file in the proper folder and execute
the program again. If you don't want to use an installation program, you
should at least distribute the program in a ZIP file. If I'm right, some
ZIP manager programs will create self-extracting files that will ask for the
folder under which the files should be extracted. This would be a lot
better the the method you use.
I also found no demo or ordering information on TextGrab. Does it really
exists? Is it ready? If not, then I don't think it is a good idea to make
an announcement for it. People won't believe you when you will finally
release it.
Regards,
Normand Peladeau
