Dr Siff,

I heard this from another physio about medical procedures lacking hard
evidence, and this is why so many people are lacking trust in the medical
profession at the moment. This probably explains why most orthopaedic
surgeons in particular are undergoing a lot of research to prove that their
procedures are effective.

As with the research on spontaneous recovery of back pain patients, yes, I
have read a few articles on this topic. Also, I have read articles that show
disc protrusion and extrusion in normal non-back pain sufferers. What
interests me however, is whether these back pain patients who recover
spontaneously get back pain again later on down the track... do you know any
longitudinal research regarding this??
I agree with you, most chiropractors have adopted Physiotherapy based
techniques and are changing the way they view the human body. This is why it
is more important for Physios to consolidate and improve on what we have
already.
