to all those who don't like / use electro and those who do
Having just done a critical review of the efficacy of ultrasound on
inflammation for my dissertation aspect of my Masters degree i will have to
disagree on the statement below. Despite many studies on ultrasound showing
no effect there is good evidence to show that it is effective in the
treatment of ulcers, and healing, and inflammation, when used appropriately.
One must realise that just applying ultrasound to a patient haphazardly will
not get results just as the delivery of a drug won't work unless the dosage
and frequrncy is correct. Our problem is we don't look at the evidence in
the literature as to how to deliver ultrasound and studies are done so
poorly that they can't show good results.

> Just to get the thread back on topic, I am the sole OPD physio at a Qld
country 90 bed hospital in Australia. I recently put all the machines that
go "ping" into the back storage room, and there are many other hospital
storerooms like this.

> So to affirm my point, electrotherapy sucks. There is no convincing
comparative invivo studies that show it is a better treatment then the
intelligent appn of ice/heat, rest/movement, and anti-inflamms.
