CONFERENCE on HISTORICAL ANALYSIS and RESEARCH IN MARKETING

Submission Deadline: November 15, 2000
The year 2001 marks many milestones in marketing history. It
is the centennial of the first university course offering in the subject
of Marketing in North America. Marketing historians will be meeting at
the John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing
History at Duke University.
Papers on all phases of marketing (broadly defined) history and the
history of marketing thought in all geographic areas and all time frames
are welcome at this friendly, informal, and collegial gathering.
Methodological, pedagogical, and historiographic submissions are also
invited. Conventional before and
after experimental studies are more suited for presentation elsewhere.
All paper submissions will be double blind reviewed and a proceedings
volume will be published. Papers may be submitted as candidates for
publication in full or as 1-page abstracts.
Outstanding full papers may be invited for publication in the Journal
of Macromarketing. The full paper judged to be the best overall at the
conference will be awarded the Stanley C. Hollander Best Paper
Award. The full paper submitted by a graduate student judged to be the
best will be awarded the David D. Monieson Best Student Paper Award.
Paper submission guidelines
Please follow the Journal of Macromarketing guide for
manuscript submissions except where indicated in the following. Papers
should not exceed 25 double-spaced pages including exhibits, appendices,
and references. Submit 3 hard copies, each with 2 cover pages: (1)
first cover page - upper right hand corner indicate whether work in
progress or full paper and indicate if the author is a student; center
paper title followed by author(s) name(s),
institutional affiliation, address, phone, fax, and email contact
information; (2) second cover page - paper title only. Papers are
double-blind reviewed. The deadline for submission of papers is November
15, 2000. Please send submissions to the Program Chair.
Accommodation and Registration
The Conference site will be the Regal University Hotel adjacent to
the Duke University campus in Durham. A block of rooms at the conference
rate of US $109 has been reserved and will be held at that rate
until April 26, 2001. To reserve call toll free at 1-800-633-5379 and ask
for a room under the CHARM room block.
The early registration fee has tentatively been set at US $250 and
includes all meals and breaks starting with Thursday evenings
reception & dinner and ending with lunch at the first membership
meeting of the Association for Historical Research in Marketing on
Sunday. After April 15 the late registration fee of $300 will apply.
