Regional Scholar Exchange Program offers grants for U.S. and N.I.S. Scholars
to conduct research abroad
American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS is currently
accepting applications to the 2001-02 Regional Scholar Exchange Program.
Funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Education and Cultural
Affairs, the program provides fellowships to U.S. and N.I.S. scholars for
research abroad. Both competitions for funding are open, merit based.
FELLOWSHIPS FOR U.S. SCHOLARS
Advanced graduate students and junior faculty who are U.S. citizens or
permanent residents specializing in the humanities, social sciences, or
information technology field may apply for grants to conduct research in the
former Soviet Union for periods of four to six months. Fellowships provide
round trip international airfare, living stipends, insurance, visas,
academic affiliations, archive access, and ongoing logistical support from
American Councils regional offices. Applicants must have sufficient working
knowledge of either Russian or the host country language to conduct
research. Application deadline: February 15, 2001.

GRANTS FOR N.I.S. SCHOLARS:
Junior and mid-level university faculty, researchers and scholars who are
citizens of the N.I.S. specializing in the social sciences and humanities
may apply for fellowships to conduct non-degree research at universities and
institutes in the U.S. for a period of four months. Fellowships provide
round trip travel, pre-academic orientation, monthly stipends, health
insurance, access to libraries and archives, and professional development
activities. Applicants must have a high level or proficiency in written and
spoken English.
