FILL YOUR HAND : The art of drawing in the digital age
Friday 20 October 2000, University of Brighton
This workshop is part of a National Initiative 'Drawing Power', the
Campaign for Drawing.
Fill Your Hand is organised by the LTSN Subject Centre for Art, Design and
Communication (ADC) and will be held in collaboration with Drawing and
Learning (DAL), a 3-year project funded by the Teaching and Learning
Technology Programme (TLTP).
Participants
This is an intermediate workshop for anyone familiar with the Apple
Macintosh user-environment and who has a basic knowledge of colour/paint
applications. It is intended for staff in the areas of Art, Design, and
Communication who wish to explore the new creativity developing for
drawing and learning provided by evolving computer technologies.
Process
The workshop will lead by James Faure Walker, a renowned Computer Artist,
plus David Rowsell, Senior Research Fellow at the London Institute and one
of the developers of the Drawing CD-ROM. There will be demonstrations of
how the CD ROM and computer applications can be used to enhance teaching
and learning. There will also be an opportunity for hands-on experience of
using some computer drawing applications and the CD-ROM.
Outcomes
As a result of this workshop you will be able to:
-participate in the National Initiative 'Drawing Power', the Campaign for
Drawing
-contribute to the evaluation of the TLTP's Drawing and Learning CD-ROM
-evaluate the role of computers the computer as a tool in the context of
teaching and learning drawing in art, design and communication
Venue
The workshop will be held at the Computer Training Room, University of
Brighton, Grand Parade, Brighton
Cost
The cost of the workshop is 50 pounds per person, which includes tea,
coffee and lunch.
