Human-Machine Interaction Research
at Risoe National Laboratory, Denmark
The Systems Analysis Department at Risų National Laboratory seeks a
scientist or a senior scientist who will join an interdisciplinary team of
researchers within the Center for Human-Machine Interaction - a
partnership between Risų, University of Aarhus, Technical University
of Denmark, Danish Maritime Institute and Danfoss A/S. The Center is
co-funded by the Danish National Research Foundation.
Job description
The successful applicant will be attached to a long-term center project
based on Risų's tradition within Cognitive Systems Engineering. The
project aims at developing design principles for information systems
that support cross-disciplinary information seeking and knowledge
exploration among individuals and teams within and across organizations
and use situations. This requires interfaces that connect different
organizational units and users with shared and well organized database
systems that can facilitate human-work interaction and cope with
dynamic changes of information needs. The applicant will participate
in empirical studies of professionals' work and the design and evaluation
of prototype systems. The applicant is furthermore expected to participate
in cross-disciplinary basic research within the center on theoretical
approaches to human- machine interaction (Activity theory, Cognitive
systems engineering and Computer semiotics).
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. degree or similar qualifications in
human-machine interaction, computer science, information & library
science, communication studies, psycology, sociology, linguistics or
related fields. Applicants for a post as a senior scientist should be
capable
of identifying basic research questions and supervising Ph.D. students
within the research domain. The ability to collaborate with the human-
machine interaction communities both in Denmark and internationally
will be emphasised as well as the ability to disseminate research results.
All applications will be considered by a scientific committee.
Terms of employment
Will be in accordance with valid agreement. The scientist post is
initially limited for a period of 3 years.
