GENERAL INFORMATION
The workshop is an integral part of the EUROMICRO 2001 conference.
Call for papers
The workshop is a major international effort to bring together researchers
and practitioners from academia, industry, and government, for an in-depth
discussion on a broad range of issues in multimedia applications and
telecommunications. As a European initiative in an interdisciplinary field,
the workshop will be a forum for combining expertise fro Computer Science
and Engineering, Medicine, Biology, Sociology, Law, and Art, to name a few.
Technical papers are sought which report on original research and
development. Case studies presenting new insights or perspectives are of
particular interest.
Since the field of Multimedia and Telecommunications is growing on a very
fast pace an attempt will be made by the program organizers to in-clude
presentations of Work-in-Progress papers and reports on industrial
developments. For this purpose there will be separate Calls for
Contribu-tions.
Suggested areas of interest for the workshop include, but are not restricted
to:
* Multimedia Design, Modeling, Analysis:
theory, architectures, multimedia hardware, hardware/software codesign, AI
and neural networks, development and evaluation;
* Multimedia Processing and Coding:
Multimedia content analysis, content-based retrieval, security,
audio/image/video proc-essing, compression, interface design, real-time
issues;
* Multimedia System Support and Tele-communication:
Network protocols, Internet, operating sys-tems, middleware, servers, QoS,
databases, thin clients, electronic commerce, mobile computing;
* Multimedia Tools, End-Systems and Ap-plications:
Hypermedia systems, user interfaces, authoring, human-computer/multi-modal
in-teraction and integration, education, design/application of virtual
environments, le-gal aspects, health care, biomedicine, tele-medicine etc.
Submission of papers
Prospective authors are encouraged to e-mail a Postscript or PDF version of
their full paper to
ls3-www.cs.uni-dortmund.de/emmtc01/ or to
www.euromicro.org/emmtc01.
If electronic submission is not possible, four copies of the full paper
should be sent by post to the program chair at the address:
Prof. Horst F.Wedde
University of Dortmund
Informatik III
44221 Dortmund/ Germany
Papers should not exceed 4000 words and include an abstract of up to 150
words. A cover page should clearly show the name, mailing address, e-mail
address and fax number of the author to contact. Authors are kindly
requested to indicate which of the four tracks fits their paper best. They
may also indicate other tracks of interest which will then trigger a
cross-track reviewing.
The following signed statement should be included on the cover page:
"Neither this paper nor any version close to it has been or is being offered
elsewhere for publication. All necessary clearances have been obtained for
the publication of this paper. If accepted, the paper will be made available
in Camera-ready forms by June 15th, 2001, and it will be personally
presented at the EUROMICRO 2001 Conference by the author or one of the
co-authors. The presenting author(s) will pre-register (full fee) for
EUROMICRO 2001 before the due date of the camera-ready paper".
The proceedings will be published by IEEE Com-puter Society. The best papers
will be up to publi-cation in a special issue of a leading journal in the
field, as a result of separate reviewing process.
