-- CALL FOR PAPERS -----------------------------------
Papers are invited for KES'2001, which promises to be
a very special event. KES'2001 forms a truly
international forum for the presentation of recent
work and the exchange of ideas on Intelligent Systems
and Techniques, Applications of Intelligent Techniques
and related areas including Information Technology
and the Internet. The conference will consist of
plenary sessions, and contributory sessions mainly
on the theory and applications of knowledge-based
intelligent information systems including but not
limited to the following topics:-
-- Generic Intelligent Techniques --
Artificial neural networks, machine learning,
knowledge-based & expert Systems, case-based reasoning,
fuzzy and neuro-fuzzy techniques, genetic algorithms,
artificial life, intelligent agents;
-- Applications of Intelligent Systems --
Condition monitoring, fault diagnosis, industrial
control, medical & diagnostic systems, image
processing, machine & computer vision, financial
& stock market monitoring and prediction, speech
processing and synthesis, natural language
processing, environmental monitoring, power
electronics & drives, high voltage systems,
engine control and vehicle applications
-- Allied Technologies --
Communications, digital and computer communications,
Signal processing & wavelets, virtual reality,
multi-media, the internet and web-based technologies,
human-computer interfaces, E-commerce, computer pets,
software techniques, simulation.
-- SUBMISSION OF PAPERS -----------------------------

To the preparation of papers" and other submission
details. To ensure high quality, all papers will be
rigorously reviewed. All oral and poster papers must
be presented by one of the authors, who must pay fees.
The conference proceedings will be published by the IEEE.
Selected papers will be considered for extension and
publication in the KES Journal, see the journal web site
www.brighton.ac.uk/kes/journal/
-- SPECIAL SESSIONS ---------------------------------
Researchers who would like to organise a special session
Of 5/6 papers on some topic that would be of interest to
Delegates are invited to submit details to the conference
Secretariat.
-- EXHIBITORS ----------------------------------------
Manufacturers of hardware and software, publishers,
etc., are invited to apply to exhibit their products
to the international audience that will attend the
conference.
-- DEADLINES -----------------------------------------
For General Sessions:-
* Receipt of papers: 1 May 2001
* Notification of acceptance: 1 June 2001
* Final papers to reach KES secretariat by: 15 June 2001
If you have been invited to contribute a paper for a
Special/Invited Session, please contact the Session
Chair for deadlines relating to the Session. Final
papers for Special/Invited Sessions must reach the
KES Secretariat by 15 June 2001.
All presenting authors (General and Special/Invited
Sessions) must register with payment by 15 June 2001
deadline for their papers to appear in the proceedings.
-- ACCOMMODATION, SOCIAL PROGRAMME ------------------
Low cost accommodation will be provided in new student
study-rooms, or there are many good-quality hotels
in Osaka.
Delegates will be invited to a conference reception
with drinks and a formal welcome. A sumptuous
conference banquet with fine wines will be held at
a prominent location.
Osaka is a historic city of river and sea, with a
modern face, and many attractions. Situated
approximately centrally in Japan, it forms an
ideal base for exploring the country.
