The following should not be taken to be my opinion of the value of any/all
of these LS courses. I do not consider myself expert enough to decide the
fate of these teaching aids.
But I wonder about one thing. Isn't the best way for both supporters and
objectors to FIRST become providers and prove they can cope with the
course's demands, be they what they may. Then even become instructors or at
least observe/assist on a course or two. Then be very well qualified to make
a judgement and push for change, if needed, from a position of strehgth.
Whether or not these courses are good, good enough, or not at all, there
will always be other ways to train people. This does not mean the course
should be abandoned. Nor should the course be considered the only way, even
if at any point in time there is no proven better way (and I don't think
there is enough comparative evidence either way from what I've read thus
far). But, as with many things, you may only be able to reject them after
you have embraced them.
