Dear Sarah Delaney
I agree with you that most of the researchers who use a qualitative
approaches are sociologists, psychologists, anthropologists and may use as a
complementary source of data surveys or quantitative data base. My focus is
on the way people doing a demographic study use qualitative data. Compared
with the usual perspective, it's a bit like taking it "the other way round".
I am trying to see how demography has opened itself to qualitative
approaches and particularly the integration of qualitative and quantitative
data in this perspective. One of my aim is to teach this to students in
demography and show them new
ways of doing demography.
Thanks for your comments.
Yours faithfully
