Apologies for cross-posting.
Yesterday we launched the re-designed Regard service on a completely
new system, to provide better facilities, perfomance and
functionality.
http://www.regard.ac.uk/
Regard is an online database containing information on social science
research funded by the Economic and Social Research
Council (ESRC).
Regard is publicly and freely available on the World Wide Web. It
contains over 65,000 records, dating back to the mid-1980's
and is updated daily to include the most current research.
The database contains:
-Initial research projects (called awards): details of researchers,
institutions, award period and an abstract
-Research outputs: books, journal articles, conference papers etc.
-Research findings reports: summary and full report of the research
activities and results
We link to researcher's Web sites and publications available online.
All information is supplied by the ESRC and researchers
themselves.
The technology used to implement the new service may be of
particularly interest . The system is based around the Zebra Z39.50
server and the ROADS toolkit, but also employs Zope, MySQL, Oracle and
the Zeta Z39.50 perl modules. It is our intention to produce a
software bundle of the tools developed for Regard and to make them
available to the wider community.
Please contact me in the first instance for further details.
Many thanks.
