DNER Portals Project Manager
The Resource Discovery Network (RDN)
The RDN is a JISC funded Internet service providing free, effective access
to high quality Internet resources for the learning, teaching and research
communities. We currently seek a dynamic individual to work closely with
RDN staff in the development of our services. The portals manager will be
central in leading the development of three web-based portals based on
current standards and providing integrated, subject community views of data
from a variety of distributed services. These portals will build on the
work of the RDN services EEVL, OMNI (Biome) and SOSIG and the post holder
will work closely with staff in these organisations.
Responsibilities of the post will encompass the day to day progression of
the project. This will include liaison with technical staff on the subject
portal prototypes, identification of requirements of a user profiling
service, development of project plans, leading on the production of portal
design guidelines and making recommendations for an RDN-wide profiling
mechanism.
The successful candidate will possess a degree or equivalent qualification
and be an experienced project manager; ideally having led projects within
the education, heritage or library sectors. Competence in basic HTML
authoring and a range of office software is essential, together with
excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a busy and
energetic team environment.
The post is available for one year and secondment arrangements will be
considered.
Salary will be within the ALC3 scale: 28,350 to 33,101 GBP per annum
inclusive of London Allowance.
