SUMMARY:
Teaching project management skills is important for helping
students to work in teams effectively, and for providing graduates
with skills relevant to the computing industry. A growing number of
universities are tackling the issues and problems raised by this
subject. This workshop will bring together educators with the
intention of sharing and developing their experience of teaching the
management of software development projects. The workshop
includes:
- The view from the software industry: Information system failures
and the need for well-run projects;
- The problem as seen from within higher education: Fundamental
questions in teaching project management;
- Some solutions: Creating partnerships with industry, and
teaching via the Web;
- Future challenges: Current trends in project management,
including the Theory of Constraints approach.
