Subject: Re: History-ideas; Dumezil
Hi Mick,
I don't know anything about Dumezil but Deleuze makes frequent
reference to Dun Scotus throughout his ouevre to explain haeccity
and also (perhaps too late for your purposes ) has a text on Francis
Bacon. ( I have not read this so am in no position to comment on
it).In Germinal Life: The difference and repetition of Deleuze ( Keith
Ansell Pearson Routledge1999) the positive task of schizoanalysis
is described as a kind of schizo-scholasticismoerson. In relation to
your last enquiry, the work of Elizabeth Deeds Ermarth, her recent
Sequel to History ( sorry no proper refs to hand) resurrects the
notion of the medieval figura as a means of making postmodern
sense.
That is all the limited help I can give and I have not really answered
your question. However, there are some very strong thinkers on the
Deleuze-Guattari mailing list at spoon collective who might be able
to offer more detailed comments.
Best Wishes
Ruth Chandler
