The web has lots of material, but it's not often presented in a way that's
easy to classify. Try a few of these:
http://www.bath.ac.uk/~hsstp/wlf&wrk.htm (data sources compiled by the
Social Policy Virtual Library at Bath)
http://www.globalpolicy.org/socecon/global/
http://www.issa.int/engl/homef.htm (includes lots of conference papers)
http://www.gksoft.com/govt/en/ (Governments on the Web - links classfied
country by country)
http://www.ssa.gov/statistics/ssptw99.html (Social Security programs
throught the world)
I've listed a number of links on my own website, "An Introduction to Social
Policy", at http://www.dundee.ac.uk/politics/socialpolicy/. While we're on
the subject, I'd like very much to ask people to suggest on-line reading
material I can link to. There's an important limitation: many papers and
documents presented on the web are very, very big (150K and rising). Most
people outside the US have to pay for time to download, and people with slow
(modem-based) connections will find the time and effort taken to use these
sources is considerable. I'm mainly looking for reading material in files
of 50K and less.
