Dear Ian, Karen Bowman, our Dir of Procurement, has forwarded
your enquiry to AUPO list [below]. Generally the advice offered by
all Directors of Estates has been NOT to employ tariff consultants
on the shared savings basis they overwhelmingly use. They get
half of any savings identified and then you pay VAT on top of their
"fee" - all for at least 36 months generally.
If you do not have enough in-house expertise / time then better
practice is to invite any consultants to offer such a service on a
fixed fee basis related to the time taken to review the bills. I think
that Manchester Metropolitan did this very satisfactorily.
Because we have no experience of the "Green Consultancy" you
mention I am bouncing your enquiry on again to the energy-
management list with a request that any reply is copied to you at

Subject: Energy consultants
Does anybody have any experience of utilising the services of any
energy consultants or tariff consultants, one in particular Green
Consultancy. I am curious as to whether anybody has taken up
their services [or another] and whether the proclaimed savings were
realised. Any info is appreciated. Regards, Ian Blakesley
