Dear colleagues on EAUC and Energy-Management lists
1. For anyone with an oil storage tank the current guidance
provided by the Environment Agency / SEPA is enshrined in their
Pollution Prevention Guidelines PPG2 "Above Ground Oil Storage
Tanks". - just eight pages inc a rainfall map [for calculating bund
sizes]. There is a very useful list of Guidance Notes at
http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/epns/ppgs.html
To order printed copies of the above Guidance Note you can E-Mail
your request to: [log in to unmask] or call the EA
general enquiry line on 08459 333 111
It is incumbent on all of us who have such tanks to check they
meet the current guidelines. We found some not conforming and
had to instigate changes to minimise risk of a pollution incident.
2. Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions
issued a Consultation Paper on 17 April entitled: "Proposals for
regulations to control water pollution from oil stores in England"
The document is available in Adobe Acrobat for downloading via
http://www.environment.detr.gov.uk/consult/polloil/
(509kb Acrobat format) [60 pages - consultation closed on 12 July]
Copies of this consultation paper [ref 00EP0016] are available from:
