I too have seen this at my health club - but thought it more to do with H&S
with downing and hyperthermia rather than cardiac electrical disturbances.
I'll ask my health club for reasons behind this.

Subject: Irregular Heart Rate
Dear list,
An unusual question based on a visit to a local health club. I was informed
that my children 11 and 6 would not be able to use the sauna or jacuzzi. The
first I accepted readily but the later with a little reservation. The
explanation seemed plausible and sensible and it was a pleasant surprise to
find staff with their finger on the button.
The reason they gave for the jacuzzi exclusion was that it could adversley
effect the the heart rate and rhythm. The water in the jacuzzi was at hot
bath temperature. Any thoughts?
