Sign/Deaf Histories, South/South-West Asia.
Dear Colleagues - The full text of an annotated bibliography
of over 200 items pertinent to "Sign, Gesture and Deafness in
South Asian and South-West Asian Histories", with materials
from antiquity up to modern times, now appears at:
http://www.sign-lang.uni-hamburg.de/bibweb/miles/miles.html
The aim is to introduce a fascinating area of Sign and Deaf
Histories that has been neglected both within S/S-W Asia and by
Euro/American students. (This version 3.0 is some 40 per cent
up on the print-out circulated in July for comment.)
I am much obliged to Mr Guido Joachim, Academic Librarian at
the Sign Language Institute, University of Hamburg, for kindly
organising the web pages, hyperlinking the cross-references,
and enlivening the text with a striking image at the start!
All good wishes for your ongoing work,
M. Miles (Mr)
