Some info for anyone interested in masters courses in environmental management,
especially in practical techniques, life cycle analysis, EIA, EMS, etc.
MSc Environmental Management for Business and Commerce
Attendance Full-time one year, part time two years, day release.
The course fee includes an international study week involving a project team
approach to an environmental problem in an unfamiliar situation. In 2000 the
destination is Toronto, Canada.
Environmental considerations are vital for the successful running of a business
and there is an increasing demand for managers who can operate effectively in
this area. This course covers the environmental impact of products and
services, the integration of new European legislative requirements and the
design of environmental management systems. It is destined to set environmental
issues within the context of business design making, a feature which
distinguishes it from many environmental masters degrees.
This is a strongly vocational course which concentrates on the project
management of environmental issues from problem definition to solution. It also
develops general environmental awareness and theoretical understanding.
Associated careers/research opportunities This course equips you with the
necessary skills to call together and manage a team of environmental experts.
You will be qualified to pursue a career in the growing area of environmental
management. Managers who find environmental considerations playing an
increasing role in their decision-making process will also find the course
useful. Past students are now working in environmental consultancy, in private
companies and in the public sector. The employment record for graduates is
excellent.
The MSc is gained by thesis after successful completion of the PgDip.
Successful completion of the MSc could lead to registration for a higher degree
of MPhil/PhD by research.
