I cannot help much.
Firstly the suffixes Ltd suggest British Companies, rather than Belgian
ones. There may be files for these companies in the Public Record Office.
If the names appear in English as iron and steel rather than in German,
could they have been British owned?
Secondly have a look at the following: Structural iron, ed. R.J.M.
Sutherland (Ashgate Variorum 1997: Studies in the History of Civil
Engineering 9)
and Alan Birch, Economic History of the British Iron and Steel Industry
1784-1879 (1967), 213ff.
Also W.K.V. Gale, British Iron and Steel Industry: a technical history
(1967) and Iron and Steel (1969)
Gale mentions J.C. Carr, W. Taplin and A.E.G. Wright, History of the
British Steel Industry (1962).
These should give you a general idea of the background and chronology,
though they will not help with your site.
Thirdly I think there are directories of the iron industry in the period you
are dealing with and a large volume of the 1880s, but I cannot recall their
titles. This is all much later than the period I research.
