Many of you have already responded to an earlier message seeking a brief
description of each SMR. The request is repeated below in the hope of
further responses. Your assistance with this will be very much
appreciated.
Regards
Tony
"The ADS is in the process of creating indexing records for SMRs. These
will be available to any HEIRNET initiative and will also be added to
the ADS catalogue. Most of the data we require is already available but
we are seeking some very short descriptive text about each SMR. As an
example,
'The GLSMR is a computerised record of information relating to
historic buildings and archaeological sites in 33 boroughs of the
Greater
London area, containing about 72,000 records. Commenced in 1984 by the
former
GLC, it was taken over by English Heritage and the initial stage of
compilation was completed in 1992' (from the appendices of the HEIRNET
report)
Could responses be sent off list to Dr Keith Westcott [log in to unmask]
who is undertaking this project."
