Subject: DIALOG Program for Recent Ph.D. Recipients
Please print and post the DIALOG IV Program Announcement available at
http://aslo.org/dialog.html (click at the top where it says "click here").
The Dissertations Initiative for the Advancement of Limnology and
Oceanography (DIALOG) is an international program co-sponsored by ASLO to
promote interdisciplinary understanding across the aquatic sciences. In
addition to collecting demographic information for human-resources, the
program has two major components:
1. Ph.D. DISSERTATION REGISTRY . Through the ASLO website, Dissertation
abstracts are collected (http://aslo.org/forms/dialogform.html) and made
available in a searchable format
(http://aslo.org/dialog/dcite.html).
The program goal is to have EVERY aquatic science dissertation registered
with the program. Please encourage your students and colleagues to
participate.
2. SYMPOSIUM FOR RECENT PH.D. RECIPIENTS. The biennial symposiium brings
together recent graduates from around the world to enhance
interdisciplinary understanding and collegial interactions across the
aquatic sciences. The DIALOG IV symposium will take place October 14-19,
2001 at the Bermuda Biological Station for Research. Individuals completing
their last Ph.D. requirement betwen April 1, 1999 and December 31, 2000 are
eligible. Sponsoring agencies provide support for travel and on-site
expenses. Details and application instructions are available at
http://aslo.org/dialog4.html
