DC community,
Many of you may remember that I volunteered to help Diane Hillman add
examples of qualified
Dublin Core metadata tags to the User Guide (to be renamed "Using Dublin
Core"). I wish to thank everyone who responded to the initial request.
It is difficult to find good examples of qualified Dublin Core elements
(embedded) directly from implementation sites or their user guides. In
many cases the metadata is stored in a repository and can not be viewed
from the Web pages and the guides rarely show the metatags marked up in
HTML or XML. Now that the DCMI has published the list of approved
qualifiers
(http://purl.org/dc/documents/rec/dcmes-qualifiers-20000711.htm), I wish
to find examples of qualified Dublin Core metatags (in HTML or XML) for
inclusion in the new guide that reflect current approved practice. For
instance, have any authors added DC tags to articles they have posted on
the Web? Eric Miller and Diane Hillman presented an excellent example of
DC elements in XML to describe one of their presentations at a
pre-conference workshop at the annual meeting of the American Library
Association.
I would appreciate any input that the DC community can provide prior to
the DC8 meeting.
Thanks,
Mary Woodley
