Lecturers from £16,655 to £29,048 p.a., and exceptionally to £32,457 p.a.
Senior Lecturer/Readership salaries range from £30,496 to £34,464 p.a., and
exceptionally to £37,257 p.a.
The School of Life and Health Sciences, comprising Optometry, Psychology,
Aston Pharmacy School and Human Biology, is seeking to make a key
appointment in order to develop and consolidate its position in research
and teaching. Research will take place within the Neurosciences Research
Institute (NRI) which currently encompasses four research groups:
Ophthalmic & Physiological Optics, Psychophysics, Clinical Neurophysiology
and Psychology. Teaching supports the undergraduate BSc Honours programme
in Optometry which is currently one of the largest in the UK. There is an
active programme for the substantial development and extension of
postgraduate professional education and training in optometry. Appointees
will be required to participate in teaching, research and administration in
optometry and vision sciences. Consideration will be given to any aspect
of activity in optometry and vision sciences. For Senior
Lecturer/Readership level clear evidence of international standing in
research will be required. Optometrists should be registered with the
General Optical Council. Terms of appointment will depend on the background
and experience of particular candidates. The minimum period for which
lecturers are normally appointed is five years, with the possibility of
subsequent transfer to a continuing appointment.
