Greetings, all
A colleague from the Canadian Hearing Society has posed the following
question, which I agreed to post here on his behalf. Please send any
responses directly to: [log in to unmask]
I seek for your advice to assist me to locate any information or research
studies on hate discrimination against persons with disabilities and any
laws ... to protect persons with disabilities from being hate discriminated.
I receive a number of hate discrimination incidents against Deaf persons.
... There are no laws related to hate discrimination against persons with
disabilities who constantly experience being hate-based discrimination by
their own parents, health professionals and other oppressors in their
attempt to medicalize and normalize persons with disabilities into becoming
abled-persons and function in abled society -- without recognizing their
ways of life like Deaf culture....
Secondly, I am thinking of developing a Self Advocacy and Advocacy Education
handbook to assist persons with disabilities and service providers, serving
persons with disabilities to record and report incidents of hate
discrimination ... I wonder if you know anyone who may have already
developed these kind of materials.
Thank you.
