Hi all...
Kakworm came in as an attachment to one of the responses in the syllabus
discussion. Nortons pick this up as it came through and quarantined the
offending critter.
Kakworm is known to attached to html format messages, rather than text
messages. It is a 'trojan' file according to Nortons and lies in waiting on
your system until opened. My colleagues in another office infected their
entire network in 30mins and wipe at least one hard drive almost
instantaneously.
Activating e-mail alerts in my Nortons virus scanner has averted a similar
disaster on my system. I also log on to Symantec site for automatic virus
definition updates.
Hope this is helpful.
Peter

Hi,
I downloaded mail from the list a few minutes ago, and one of the messages
contained the vbs. kakworm virus.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you which one; my virus scanner automatically
deleted the offending file.
I scan all mail before opening it - paranoia can be useful sometimes!
For more info on the virus and how to clean your system, you can go to:
.A>>
If the link above does not work, go to
http://www.antivirus.com>>
and click on "Security Info"
The virus is listed in their top ten. You can also do a search for it on
their site.
Leslie Harris.
