TWO RESEARCH FELLOW POSTS
POST 1 TRIAL CO-ORDINATOR - THE BACK PAIN TRIAL
2 Year fixed term post
Salary range: RA1A (up to £24,479 currently under review)
We need an enthusiastic suitably experienced musculoskeletal physiotherapist to act as co-ordinator of our trial of physiotherapy treatment for low back pain in primary care. This post will provide an outstanding research opportunity for physiotherapists keen to combine their proven clinical expertise, management and organisational skills within a research environment. This ambitious and prestigious trial has received funding from the National Lottery Charities Board.
An understanding of randomised controlled trials and current or recent involvement in research would be and advantage. Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills are required, as are computer skills. A current driving licence and a car are essential as travel between Centres within the North Staffordshire district will be necessary. There may be an opportunity to develop your own research linked with this project.

POST 2 RESEARCH FELLOW: POPULATION SURVEY OF PAIN & DISABILITY
3 year fixed term post (may be renewable)
Salary range: RA1A (up to £24,479 under review)
This post offers an exciting and challenging research opportunity, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team on a new programme of research investigating the optimal management of osteoarthritis in Primary Care, funded by the MRC for five years. The post holder will take the lead in developing and validating a survey instrument to investigate joint pain, function and disability.
You may have a clinical background, be committed to a multi-disciplinary approach to researching pain and disability, have evidence of achievement in executing research and high levels of organisational skills.

The Primary Care Sciences Research Centre is a friendly and lively grouping of clinicians (physiotherapists, nurses, GPs, rheumatologists) working with statisticians, epidemiologists and social scientists on an expanding musculoskeletal research programme which includes trials, clinical epidemiology and observational studies that are supported by the MRC, ARC, Wellcome Trust, National Lottery Charities Board and NHS(E).
