Dear List members
Please remember that the Rudyard-Kipling list is "To
exchange information and views on the life and work of the
author Rudyard Kipling."
Please keep any other discussion to exchanges between the
parties concerned.
The line between the subject matter of the RK list and
other matters is a fine one, but I suggest that there are
some general considerations.
'What I think about.. (the veracity of Mulvaney's reported
accent, for instance)', is legitimate.
'What Rudyard Kipling would have thought, about....' is, as
the Lord High Chancellor says, not evidence, and so does
not qualify for list discussion. It should be sent directly
to the other person concerned
The list is a group with a common interest in Rudyard
Kipling. The list members all have a range of interests,
maybe are members of other email discussion groups, but it
is a safe bet that we do not all share the other
interests. Consequently it is not appropriate to send
messages via the RK list about them. And, as always, a
discussion group can only function properly and smoothly by
maintaining politeness.
Best wishes to all
