Research Assistant
Salary: RA5 (£14,427) ? RB3 (£17,826)
One year contract (full-time)
Required for 12 months to conduct a Resource: Council for Museums,
Libraries and Archives funded research project: 'Sustainable models of
learning cultures and resource-based learning for the 21st century',
concerned with investigating the relationship between different learning
cultures and children's resource-based learning and developing
cross-sectoral models for supporting children from different learning
cultures in becoming resourceful lifelong learners. In addition, the
Research Assistant will be involved in conducting evaluative work on a
number of development projects in a range of areas including reader
development.
Working under the supervision of the CIRT Director, the Research Assistant,
based in the Centre for Information Research, in the School of Information
Studies, will carry out literature and Internet searches, liaise with
organisations such as schools and library services, plan conduct and manage
case study field work, analyse questionnaires and interviews and write
reports and dissemination materials.
Candidates should have research experience and must be graduates, ideally
with a first degree or postgraduate qualification in library and
information studies, education or equivalent. Excellent communication,
writing and IT skills and a willingness to travel are essential. Knowledge
of, or interest in, resource-based learning and the school education system
and / or evaluation techniques is desirable.
Salary will be on the Scale RA5 (£14,427) ? RB3 (£17,826). The successful
candidate will be offered a one year full-time contract. It is intended to
hold interviews in late August.
