Welcome to SMR Forum's e-conference on the Historic Environment Review.
Some of you may be wondering how we can hold a conference on-line and what
happens next. I suggest that we should aim to have a focussed discussion
based around the Historic Environment Review consultation papers that were
circulated last week (additional copies are available on-line or from EH on
01793 414586). I suggest that discussion on list should be limited to the
Review for the next three weeks, if you are concerned about the number of
emails then send the message 'set SMRForum digest' to mailbase.
I have arranged for some EH members of the Review working groups to become
members of the list so that they can contribute to the conference if
appropriate but they will not lead the discussion. We are all consultees in
this review and I hope that everyone will contribute to the discussion -
including members from Wales, Scotland, Ireland and the Channel Islands.
I'd like to take this opportunity to say that I too am a consultee in this
Review and that any comments I make are my thoughts alone and not EH views.
I suggest that we open the conference by looking at discussion paper 1:
Understanding the Historic Environment. Why is definition important?
The floor is open.
Kate
