Dear friends and colleagues,
I would much appreciate it if you could please forward this information
to young social scientists that you think might be interested in living
in Belgium for about 10 months and benefit from a great new masters
programme in what is probably Flanders' most student friendly city:
Louvain (Leuven).
By the end of September 2000, the Department of Sociology of the
University of Louvain (K.U. Leuven), Belgium, starts with a master
programme in Sociology called "Social Change in European Societies.
Managing and Monitoring Societal Development." The programme is an
English taught, advanced academic training programme in sociology.
It focuses on analysing and understanding (monitoring) the actual
transitions which present themselves in modern societies and on the
consequences of it for policy making in the major institutional areas
(managing).
The programme is a post-graduate degree course that may be completed as
a full time option over one year or as a part-time option over two
years. Students may enrol at the University of Louvain (K.U.Leuven). As
you will see in the brochure, student fees in Flanders are relatively
modest
(466.04 Euro).
The active co-operation of the Sociology Department of the K.U.Leuven in
a wider institutional network, including universities and data archives,
guarantees the comparative and international perspective of this
programme.
You can read all about it in the brochure, which you can find on the
website:

Application forms can be found on the website:

More information about the University of Louvain, one of the oldest
universities in Europe (1425), and the charming city of Louvain (Leuven)
can
be found on the foreign guests website of the university:
