Let me see if I understand this right.
You are speaking about metaphorical contagion, that is the idea that one can
somehow become like the person one is distancing oneself from, and that even
to be percieved as in any way similar is a social goal to be avoided?
Would this be as the result of cultural conditioning? or something inherent
to the human species as a social animal?
