Agree with your sentiments regarding Andrew's support of appropriately
trained nursing staff performing certain tasks previously left to medical
staff and breaking down the barriers between Medics and Nurses.
It is important to understand why medics may display this particular
attitude as you and your colleagues are in a positition to sort it our in
the future. I've been a nurse for slightly longer than you - 18 years, 11 of
those years in critical care and have seen many examples of nurse's being
completely out of their depth and sometimes out of control and yet they
bluff and stumble on regardless. You have to give the medics their place and
understand why they generically may think nurses can only talk the talk.
That's not to say the medics aren't capable of the odd mishap ;-)
All the best when you qualify -if you decide to stay in nursing that is!
