Ambulance control can often have the next emergency call waiting for a
crew as they arrive at A&E, so routinely waiting at all A&E departments
probably is not a possibility.
However, taking local circumstances into account, it may be possible -
speak to crews, locality ambulance managers and ambulance control
locally. Where I am, it would be a two hour round trip to collect the
spinal board (75% of it out of radio contact), so control are almost
always happy for us to wait a short while to get our board back.
